We’ve compiled a list of 15 Funko Pops that we believe are the scariest and must-have to add to your collection. #15. Dementor from Harry Potter
Dementors are gliding creatures that feed on the human soul to take away their happiness and leave them in pain, depression and despair. You can think of them as ghouls who work for the villains of Harry Potter such as the British Ministry of Magic, wizards from the Dark Arts and of course Lord Voldemort. As Remus Lupin described them, “Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope and happiness out of the air around them. Get too near a Dementor and every good feeling, every happy memory will be sucked out of you. If it can, the Dementor will feed on you long enough to reduce you to something like itself, soulless and evil. You will be left with nothing but the worst experiences of your life.” They have appeared throughout all of the Harry Potter books and movies. One memorable incident from the Dementors is when they interrupted a Quidditch and sucked Harry’s soul to where he lost consciousness and he fell off his broom.
As far as the Funko Pop goes, the Dementor has a very hideous and scary look to them that mimic the movie. A black cloth covers their eyes, but you can still see their ugly mouth with sharp teeth and ghostly body. One thing I wish that this Funko Pop could depict better is the flying motion that they had. These were flying ghouls that roamed around looking for it’s victims. Still, it’s incredible for Funko to even have created these Dementors given they aren’t a main character in the Harry Potter franchise.
#14. Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth
The Pale Man is one of the antagonist characters in the dark fantasy drama film Pan’s Labyrinth. This freaky villain has eyeballs in the palms of their hands. During the movie, they showed paintings of the Pale Man inside the creature’s lair of the Paleman eating children alive. In the lair, they showed only what’s left of the children which were their clothes and shoes. During Ofelia’s quest inside the lair, she was tasked to retrieve the dagger and not wake up the Pale Man who was asleep. The Faun warned Ofelia saying, “you’re going to a very dangerous place, so be careful. The thing that slumbers there, it is not human.” But Ofelia couldn’t help herself and decided to eat off of the Pale Man’s luxurious banquet. The Pale Man woke up and came after Ofelia. Ofelia just barely managed to escape from the terror of the Pale Man.
This Funko Pop does a great job of showing his eyeballs in his palm. He’s a freaky character with pale skin and flesh with a very droopy body. The pose is famously done in the movie as well, so the designers of this Pop Vinyl deserve a lot of praise. Add this to your collection if your a big fan of the classic movie Pan’s Labyrinth.
#13. Weeping Angel from Doctor Who
Also known as “The Lonely Assassins”, the Weeping Angels are evil angels that have the ability to send their victims back in time, while they feast on the victim’s unlived days. Both Amy and Rory were cruelly sent back to 1938 to live out the rest of their lives. They also have the ability to animate and bring to life original statues into angels. They angels are incredibly dangerous and they can move within space and time. These weeping angels can be captured to prevent them from roaming. In 2012, a weeping angel was captured by Sammy Star who kept it locked up in a lead lined box.
These creatures often covered their faces with their hands to prevent trapping each other in petrified form for eternity by looking at each other. This gave them a distinct weeping appearance. This funko pop does an excellent job of showing how these weeping angels come after their victims before sending them back in time. Their sharp deadly teeth with and gray color symbolizing their statue makes them a scary funko pop.
#12. Nemesis from Resident Evil
The Nemesis from the Resident Evil had several names such as the Nemesis-T Type, the Pursuer or the Chaser. The Nemesis first burst onto the scene in the 2003 film, Resident Evil:Apocalypse. The character has a giant rocket launcher. The scary face is due to the fact that he was infected with the T-virus after being scratched by a Licker and later captured and experimented with by the Umbrella Corporation giving him a hideous look. The Nemesis was sent on a mission to kill the remaining members of STARS and used for completed evil. Thankfully it remembers it’s humanity after fighting Alice and then switches to becoming a good guy by fighting alongside the protagonist near the end of the film. Sadly, in the film he doesn’t survive. The Nemesis is crushed by a crashing helicopter and is killed by a nuclear explosion that wipes out Raccoon City.
If you didn’t see the movie, you’d already be scared of the Nemesis just by looking at this Funko Pop. He’s a human who turned into a hideous monster. Those teeth are monstrous and it’s almost unthinkable to imagine that he was a human. We love the bazooka and stitched up face which does a great job of his depiction in the film, comics and video game.
#11. Regan from Exorcist
Regan MacNeil is a 12 year old and the daughter of Chris MacNeil. In the film The Exorcist, Regan is kidnapped by the demon Pazuzu and begins to display extremely aggressive, strange and frightening behavior. This worries Chris and he has to consult an Exorcist. It seems that Regan is actually possessed by a demon. There is a prolonged battle between Pazuzu and Karras, where Regan briefly transforms into a deceased mother, however Pazuzu eventually leaves Regan’s body to look for a new host.
Funko does an excellent job of depicting the time where Pazuzu shows up in Regan’s face and possesses her. This is where you see her scratches on her face and demonic greenish face. The clothes are accurate showing her bedtime clothes and clothes she wore in the hospital. The only thing we want to have improved is her eyes. The eyes in the film were a hungry yet evil demonic eyes whereas this Funko Pop has plain green and blank eyes. Adding this small detail will only add to the terror to what is already a very horrific character.
#10. Chucky from Bride of Chucky
Chucky Ray is an antagonist character in the Child’s Play film series and is portrayed as an evil serial killer and continuously looks to transfer his soul from a doll to a human. It’s easily one of the most recognizable horror film characters and rivals other ones such as Freddy Kruefer, Jason Voorhees, Ghostface, Leatherface, Pennywise, Pinhead and Michael Myers. In fact for the movie Bride of Chucky, he was awarded Best Villain for the MTV Movie Award. In this film, Tiffany gave Chucky back his diamond ring he left for her, the night was killed. Chucky explained that he actually stole it from a wealthy individual. Tiffany was angered by this and locked him in the playpen. Chucky ended up escaping and murdering Tiffany. But he is able to transform her soul into a bride doll.
We love the scratches and tears on his face with stitches in this funko pop. The knife is exactly what he uses as he frequently stabs his victims when murdering them. We love his ginger hair, big forehead and blue outfit. We’re glad they got one of the best villains out there right.
#9. Xenomorph from Alien
Xenomorph XX121 is an alien character that is an extraterrestrial hive-based endoparasitoid species with a multi-staged life cycle originating from the planet Proteus in the movie Alien. They are usually about 7-8 feet tall and they require a host organism in order to reproduce and replicate. These creatures typically have incredible strength, speed and intelligence.
Just like in the film, Xenomorph’s mouth is filled with large sharp teeth and it’s inner jaw shoots out to penetrate the victim’s brain. Their tongue also can punch through anything from bone to Yautja armor. Though Xenomorph’s can take on different forms, this is an excellent depiction of them in the movie, Alien. This pop has everything down to the smallest detail as some xenomorphs have six fingers with the index and middle fingers conjoined and little fingers conjoined. Their blue dorsal spines are theorized to be sensory organs to communicate to breathing apparatus, dissipate heat and store substances in their bodies. Overall, we love the look of this funko pop and it’s really frightening!
#8. Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal
Sweet Tooth is a vehicle from the Twisted Metal Series driven by a clown serial killer named Needles Kane. Though Funko manufacturers have named the Pop Vinyl, Sweet Tooth, in actuality the vehicle is named Sweet Tooth not the clown. Needles Kane is a very angery, destructive and hateful person and only thinks about causing misery and killing. Despite numerous attempts to be defeated Needles Kane comes back many times. For example, one time he was sent for execution. Despite his head being on fire, he escaped and killed 3 police officers.
This Funko Pop depicts the rage and evil that lives within him. We love how the hair is on fire which is accurate from the film. Down to the smallest detail such as the red eye being a clownish and the other eye being cracked, we think this is one of the scariest pop vinyls out there!
#7. Pennywise with Rot Iron from It
Pennywise from the best selling novel and film from Stephen King is a hideous shape-shifting creature who is billions of years old and originated from a region in space called Macroverse. Due to an asteroid cataclysmic crash on Earth, Pennywise first landed on Earth in the year 1715. It’s a scary creature that feasts on humans for food, especially children. The creature’s only desires are to eat and sleep. It’ll eat very ferociously and frequently until it’s satisfied, in which then Pennywise hides for 27 years. Pennywise has an array of very psychic abilities such as mind control, telepathy, shapeshifting, mental illusionar, telekinesis, chlorokinesis, weather control, teleportation, and superhuman speed and strength.
As far as appearance goes, we love how hideous and freaky this Funko Pop is. Although Pennywise can shapeshift, it’s hard to know his true form. But the one played in the film is quite similar to this pop vinyl. He is known for wearing a clown suit and having a clown face. One reason is that we speculate he wants to trick children into having fun before instilling fear into them and ultimately eating them alive.
#6. Carrie White from Carrie
Carrie White is the main protagonist from Stephen King’s first horror novel and film, Carrie first published in 1974. Carrie had a troubled childhood where her father abandoned her and was constantly picked on by her classmates from an early age. She was very lonely and misunderstood. However, Carrie had hidden telekinetic and telepathic powers that arose in high school when she had her first period in the girl’s locker room. She once snapped on a senior prom prank and ended up killing all of the bullies that had ever done her wrong as well as killing her homicidal mother.
In one of the kids’ pranks on Carrie, they pulled a rope that resulted in a bucket of rotten pig’s blood to spill all over Carrie. This caused her to freak out and further enraged her. This funko pop displays this scene with her hair, face and clothes covered in blood. This is pop reminds me of just how scary this character became due to her troubled upbringing.
#5. Twisty the Clown from American Horror Story: Freak Show
Twisty is a villain in the American Horror Story where he is a disgraced clown who tries to regain his position to entertain children. As a child, Twisty was dropped on his head and that caused severe mental disability. He always would believe that the kids enjoyed his company but failed to realize that they were completely frightened by him. Throughout the show, he tries to kill the people that have previously wronged him.
In the film, Twisty wore a scary grinning mask to cover his missing jaw and a filthy clown suit as well as carrying a sack holding his juggling pins. The funko pop is quite accurate in it’s design, from it’s three splits of hair, wild grin and ugly clown suit. He’s quite the freak show and this cracks out top 15 list for sure!
#4. Annabelle Doll (bloody) from The Conjuring
Annabelle created by a dollmaker came to life when she was possessed by a vengeful spirit of Annabelle Mullins. When Annabelle diede, her parents Samuel and Esther prayed that they would do anything to bring her back to life. They then awakened a demon disguised as Anabelle and was granted permission by their parents into the doll. The even doll ends up attacking Esther and ripping her left eye out.
This Funko Pop is definitely a scary one and even details all of the blood on the doll. The pop looks very possessed similar to the film. Something we would like to see is her evil smile. Anabelle’s doll typically is smiling in thirst before plotting or killing someone.
#3. The Gentleman from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The Gentleman were a group of demons that roamed around towns and cities to kill humans and take their hearts in order to stay alive. These demons had the ability to kind of float or hover above the ground instead of walking. They were also invincible to harm such as attacks from swords, guns, or electricity. Their fatal weakness seems to be the human voice, especially the human scream.
The designers of this Funko Pop did them justice by accurately having them in their black jackets and evil smile with bloodshot eyes. They were always plotting and scheming who they’re next victim would be. These Gentleman were bald and pale demons who never spoke but always grinning maliciously through their metallic teeth. This is definitely one of the more scary pops out there in the Funko universe.
#2. The Nun from Demonic
The Nun also known as Valak is the main villain in the Conjuring franchise. An evil Duke attempts to summon a demonic force. And hundreds of years later, this demon awakens and is disguised as a nun to mock their faith. Valak had murdered many nuns leaving only two alive. When Lorrain Warren was able to defeat Valak, the nun, she famously said, “your name gives me dominion over you, demon, and I do know your name! You are Valak – the defier, the profane, the marquis of snakes! In the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit, I condemn you back to hell!”
This pop is definitely ones of the scariest out there of all Funko pops. The nun is a very pale demon with frightening eyes, and cracks in its face with sharp teeth. Typically the nun hides it’s face especially during prayer and in church however, when it appears to strike, it will have an evil face similar to the one displayed on this pop vinyl.
#1. Pinhead from Hellraiser III
Pinhead is a villain in all of the Hellraiser films and is known as a Cenobite. Cenobites are extra dimensional beings that only can reach Earth’s reality through a schism in time and space. One of the common times when these cenobites appear is during the opening of a puzzle box called Lament Configuration. In the film, Pinhead was born as a man named Elliot Spencer who opened this Lament Configuration and turned him into this being where he lost all memory of his prior human identity. In the Hellraiser III, he is free and engages in a killing spree on earth.
This funko pop does an excellent job of displaying his face filled with pins and the long droopy robe of his. If you notice, he’s also carrying the Lament Configuration puzzle that he unlocked that turned him into this monster. We love the detail from his pop vinyl and it’s a great reminder of how scary this series really is.
